Meet Synergistic Genomics — Your Partner in Pharma, Research & Healthcare

Heather Dorsey, MS, LCGC

Genomics. It excites us. It mystifies us. It exemplifies the power of the humanities to discover and be discovered. But it is not simple and it is not easy.

At Synergistic Genomics, we draw from decades of clinical genetics experience in concert with a great depth of knowledge in the testing, therapeutics, regulatory, and operational landscapes. This enables us to understand the larger picture of healthcare in ways few can achieve.

Our strength lies in synergy.

Genetics is complex. So is its incorporation into modern healthcare. Whether it is the need to target the right treatment to the right patient, find the right code for the right test, or gain a deeper knowledge of how genetics fits into the larger healthcare landscape, Synergistic Genomics is your trusted expert.

We also know that every problem to solve or hurdle to climb is unique. Solutions in this space are rarely one-size-fits all. So our synergy is also in meeting you where you are: finding solutions that incorporate your goals within a framework that works for you.

Why Synergistic Genomics?

Maximize your impact and minimize spend in all areas

— clinical, technical, regulatory, and operations.

Heather Dorsey is a Board Certified Genetic Counselor, licensed in the state of Oregon. She started her career at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, before moving to Portland, OR in 2000. Throughout her career, Heather has helped thousands of families understand genetics and make informed decisions regarding the potential benefits and harms of genetic testing. The complex and often emotional decisions that families face when considering genetic testing always serves as a guiding principal for the advice and recommendations we provide.

Clinical

To be effective, it is crucial to not only have a deep understand of clinical genetics, but also to understand the technologies used to diagnose and treat our patients. What are the technological benefits and limitations of testing? How does one test compare to another? Does the test actually do what it is marketed to do? Synergistic Genomics has deep technical knowledge of new and emerging technologies to compliment clinical practice. We also provide expert advice for utilization of genetic testing in the current and ever-changing healthcare landscapes.

Technical

Regulatory

How does an idea go from concept to market to broad utilization? The level of regulatory oversight varies significantly. We understand the difference between an FDA companion diagnostic, an FDA cleared test, and a lab developed test (LDT). At Synergistic Genomics, we bring this knowledge and insight to help you understand the benefits and limitations of current regulation. As this regulatory space is very dynamic, we can also help interpret changes in regulation and what it may mean for your group.

We understand the systems which keep healthcare operations running. This includes having deep knowledge of the CPT coding system, including Mol Path and PLA codes, and how these often don’t align well in identifying the testing that is actually performed. We also understand the need for intention, policy, and day-to-day operations to harmonize for maximum efficiency and minimal waste. Synergistic Genomics is adept at looking at any problem through these lenses to find solutions which are appropriate for different services, needs, and capabilities.
